‘I lindë Onyato’ ‘the Song of Ents’

forestsong:

Írë tuilë panta neldorya lassë,
A
r sára ná olbassë;
Íre cala ná taurëa celumenna,
Ar súrë hencúnenna;
Íre vanta anda ar súya núra,
Ar laica orontya vista;
Attulat ninna!
Attulat ninna ar á queta nórenya ná vanya!

When Spring opens beechen leaf,
And juice is branch-in;
When light is wood stream-on,
And wind [is] brow-on;
When walk [is] long and breath deep,
And keen mountain air;
Come back to me!
Come back to me and say my land is fair!

I can see you two easily picked that out.

Why, Ent, I cannot see how we could ever relate to your post.

Sometimes I believe that you elves might even be stranger than little Orcs. I tend to get worried now and then about your kind.

Ah, unlike my kind, Orcs are predictable. Though, I should consider myself glad that you worry about us - whether if it is worrying for yourself rather than the well-being of my race or not.
You should know, above all creatures, that we have all changed in physical and mental characteristics over the centuries but Elves not being violent is a mere stereotype, mellonamin.

I do agree that the Orcs that you know are quite vile and dangerous, but I do not talk of them. I merely mean what Mithrandir once called “Shire folk”, I believe. These creatures never wish to fight (besides Master Meriadoc, for his friends.), however, they do have strange, curious personalities and they are full of surprise. I only compare them to you because I did not expect such a response from you or Lindir. Although I am not disappointed, I would have personally stepped on the Grey-face who commanded that you fall off a cliff.

Thank you, my friend, your words are kind.
I do believe that the creatures you are referring to are in fact called Hobbits. You may not be too familiar with their kind (I suspect this much for hobbits don’t tend to leave their homes on adventures) but they are rather fascinating. The Hobbits that you encountered were on a quest to save our world and you helped them achieve that. We are forever grateful.

I think I do recall vaguely the two little masters calling themselves by that name, it must have slipped from my memory.
One thing I shan’t forget, however, was the Last March I assume you are talking about. Truth be told, the Ents and I were only out to save our dear home. Sauron had darkened and took his fury out on some of my very best friends. He could never be forgiven for that. Although I did have sympathy for Hobbits and Elves and Men, Fangorn had to come first. Still, I am glad that I aided in vanquishing the evil in Middle Earth.
